125 mm diameter Epoxy Resin Sanding Kit Combo

Step 1:

Using random orbital sander sand with 400 grit sia Siaspeed 8 Hole disc in long sweeping motions over the entire surface of the workpiece. At regular intervals, change the sanding direction by 90 degrees from the previous sanding direction. Continue until all you can see is the pattern left by the sandpaper.

Clean the work surface to remove any abraded particles and dry, then inspect the workpiece with a bright light to ensure you remove the previous scratch pattern before continuing.

Step 2:

Change to 600 grit and repeat the above process to remove the 400 grit scratches.

Step 3:

Change to an 800 - 1200 grit KLINGSPOR FD500 foam-backed disc, spray the surface with water using enough water to provide lubricity to the surface and avoid overheating the disc. Repeat the above process until the 600 grit scratches have been removed.

Step 4:

Change to an 1800 - 2500 grit KLINGSPOR FD500 foam-backed disc, spray the surface with water using enough water to provide lubricity to the surface and avoid overheating the disc. Repeat the above process until the 800 - 1200 grit scratches have been removed.

Step 5:

Change to a 2800 - 3500 grit KLINGSPOR FD500 foam-backed disc, spray the surface with water using enough water to provide lubricity to the surface and avoid overheating the disc. Repeat the above process until the 1800 - 2500 grit scratches have been removed.

Step 6:

Change to a 3600 grit Micro-Mesh disc, spray the surface with water using enough water to provide lubricity to the surface and to avoid overheating the disc. Repeat the above process until the 2800 - 3500 grit scratches have been removed.

Step 7:

Attach the TufBuf lambswool buff, preferably to a right angle sander polisher / right-angle polisher rated approximately 2500 RPM. Alternatively, we have backing pads with M14 threads, which we can supply with an adaptor to a 6 mm shaft for attaching to a drill. Spray the surface with water and apply approximately one tablespoon of Micro-Gloss liquid polish in areas over the surface and buff.

Step 8:

Attach the foam polishing pad, spray the surface with water, and apply approximately one tablespoon of Micro-Gloss liquid polish in areas over the surface and buff. Rinse the workpiece with clean water and dry with the cotton flannel. All the fine scratches should be gone. If not, repeat the buffing process.

* Always use extreme caution when using electric tools with water.

** Work in a well-lit area. It is an advantage for transparent surfaces to set a bright light on the side opposite being sanded and polished. For non-transparent surfaces, place the light at an angle.
